What are your feelings about eating meat?
So apparently this one is in English… I wonder why 😏.
Anyway, this isn’t about telling anyone what to eat, but I will share my thoughts about it, and they are mine, you can agree or not, that won’t change my feelings about eating meat. I don’t. I’m vegetarian. Not vegan as I still have eggs, honey and cheese, so I basically don’t eat anything that had eyes. I had to explain this as for some people not eating meat means you can have fish. No, fish is still meat, so I used the nothing with eyes for everyone to get it.
I do it because I don’t think consuming something that has been miserable all it’s life and died suffering, in a terrible way can be healthy. I don’t think pigs that grew up in crates, confined, with no sunlight or air, then put in lorries to go to slaughterhouses where they get stunned but still conscious, is healthy. That applies to cattle and poultry. For the fish… Well tell me if you think being hooked by your mouth and put out of your element until you suffocate is fun. And don’t get me started with lobster. So no thanks. I’m not into torturing animals.
If there was a way to prove that what you are baout to heat had a happy life and died with no pain nor suffering I would rethink about it. But for the moment I keep my habit of not eating meat. After more than a year without it, I don’t feel the need for it. Plus health wise I’m more than OK. Blood tests have proved I’m fine, no shortage of anything, so why not do it in a bigger scale?
Because here is the main thing about eating meat. It is very polluting. It produces a lot of bad shit thrown into the atmosphere. It has been proved more than once that if we want to prevent a catastrophe we’re heading towards, we should reduce the amount of meat we eat. We will perish if we keep doing it. Red meat every day is bad for your health. Many studies say it, you see an increase of cancer in people and no one wonders of it is because we eat too much of it. We would probably be healthier if we did it less. I’m not saying to go vegan full time. But maybe once or twice a week could be a good start. There is no real necessity for meat every single day. There are so many more options out there, as tasty and fun, but narrow minded people can’t grasp it.
I started getting one day of the week for meat, and at some point I forgot about that day, and now I don’t eat it, and I’m OK. I wish governments went more in that direction. I’m sure if they encouraged people to eat substitutes they would do it. You can replace it in your diet and it would be OK, but it’s too expensive. The reduction of pollution and health problems should be something they look forward, unfortunately it seems that meat lobbies are too powerful.
